ACM Signs

For shopfronts, smaller building signs, and indoor displays? 3mm ACM does the job nicely. Got a larger panel, an exposed spot, or somewhere wind loading is a real factor? Go 4mm. Yeah, that's one of ACM's strengths. Our CNC router cuts custom shapes, dimensional letters, logos, and decorative profiles with clean edges. You can also score-fold ACM to create returns, built-up letters, three-dimensional forms. If you can design it, we can almost certainly make it.

Better than most people expect. The aluminium outer skins naturally resist corrosion, so coastal conditions are not an issue. The polyethylene core is completely waterproof. We'd recommend protective lamination over printed graphics if you're in a seriously exposed spot right on the coast, but for the vast majority of Auckland locations, standard ACM handles salt air without breaking a sweat.

That depends on the look you're after and what wall you're working with. Stand-off fixings create a floating effect with shadow behind the sign. Looks sharp. Flush mounting sits the panel tight to the wall for a cleaner profile. Rail systems let you swap panels later when tenants change. Integrated framing handles bigger architectural jobs. We recommend the right approach once we know your wall construction and what you want visually.

There's barely anything to it. Wipe down with mild soapy water and a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water. Done. Avoid abrasive cleaners and don't hit them with a high-pressure washer because that can damage the lamination layer. Most ACM signs with protective lamination only need a clean once or twice a year.

Solid ACM isn't translucent, so direct backlighting won't work. But it makes a great substrate for face-lit signage with externally mounted lights. You can also get ACM routed through with acrylic or polycarbonate behind the cutouts for halo-lit effects. Want full backlighting? Visually? Very similar. Weight? Completely different story. ACM comes in at roughly one-fifth the weight of equivalent solid aluminium. That means easier mounting, less structural demand on the wall, lower shipping costs. Where solid aluminium wins is impact resistance, so if vandalism or extreme industrial conditions are a concern, it might be the better pick.
